Amplitude event naming conventions that survive scale
verb_object, snake_case, button_clicked — a convention is only useful when every team can follow it. Make naming drift visible before it fragments your analysis.
The problem
Amplitude event names drift when product, engineering, marketing, and support instrument the same journey. Casing, tense, separators, and object names diverge: signup_completed, Sign Up Complete, and user_signed_up can all describe one action. Dashboards split and the intended naming standard becomes a suggestion.
A convention needs a cleanup pass behind it. You need to normalize an export, group exact and near-duplicate names, and review canonical events without sending product analytics data to another SaaS.
