PAIN / TAXON

AMPLITUDE · EVENT TAXONOMY

Amplitude duplicate events are rotting your taxonomy

btn_click, Button Clicked, button_clicked — same action, three names. Charts splinter. Funnels lie. Governance stalls until someone cleans the CSV by hand.

The problem

Event taxonomies drift the moment multiple teams instrument. Casing, punctuation, synonyms (btn / cta / signup), and legacy names pile up in Amplitude exports. Spreadsheets don’t cluster near-duplicates. Waiting on eng for a rename pass doesn’t scale.

You need a pass that normalizes names, groups exact and near-duplicates, and exports a taxonomy you can actually govern — without uploading the export to a third-party SaaS.

How Taxon helps

Taxon is a browser-local event CSV cleaner built for Amplitude exports (Mixpanel and Heap too). Drop a file, auto-detect the event column, normalize casing and whitespace, then collapse exact and near-duplicate clusters with synonym packs and suggested canonical names. Apply suggestions and leave with a cleaned CSV, schema Markdown/JSON, and a reusable taxon-map.json.

01

Drop the CSV

Upload or paste an Amplitude export (Mixpanel / Heap also work). Column detection is automatic. Samples included.

02

Normalize + cluster

Canonical casing, Default / SaaS / Ecommerce synonym packs, and clear merge suggestions.

03

Export clean

Apply suggestions in one click. Leave with a taxonomy CSV, schema pack, and shareable map.

Private by default. Cleanup runs client-side — your CSV stays in the browser. Anonymous pageviews only (no file contents).
